A stone structure, often found in gothic cathedrals, that transfers the load of the roof to a detached pier or buttress. This construct renders the walls unnecessary as a means of support and permits the wall area to be devoted to large stained-glass windows.

Hugh Easterbrook
Hugh Easterbrook has over 35 years of international business experience in corporate finance and general management with Newell-Rubbermaid Inc and Lloyds Bank International and as an investor/NED with Sitescope and Julius Rutherfoord. Over this period, he has been involved in numerous transactions in various countries, including the first public takeover in Eastern Europe. Hugh holds a BSc in Economics, an MBA from INSEAD and is fluent in French and Spanish.
Tony Gillon
Tony Gillon qualified as a chartered accountant with PWC. He subsequently gained extensive corporate finance experience over 16 years with Lloyds Bank International and S.G Warburg. He was co-founder and Chairman of Sitescope Limited, an environmental information business which was sold to The Daily Mail Group Trust. Most recently he was Group Finance Director for a private equity backed specialist recruitment group.
